Happy Valentine’s Day and welcome to my first blog post for Yvonne Whelan Design.

Yes I’m relatively new to this whole Blog world but you have to start somewhere so I thought why not today.  And in the spirit of all things Valentine, I have pulled together a few looks that I simply covet and feel that even with a bold colour like red or pink…if you mix it with the right edgy pieces it just doesn’t feel too girly.  A very important factor if you want to keep your sweetheart happy.

This is a little inspiration board we pulled together today with some Valentine on our mind.  Our inspiration was this striking Pink Sofa from UpCountry.  But to balance out the feminine vibe we paired it with some edgy black pieces like this structural light also from UpCountry, these killer curvy stools from CB2 and a classic Cow hide from Wayfair.  Too soften up these edgy details we added some fun pillow from Tonic Living.  Some fun art from Minted                                                                                       and  voila, cool, chic Room with Sass.

This bedroom is one we worked on last year.  There was a lot of heavy details that we softened with a touch of pink.  It created the perfect tension between feminine and masculine.  Bedding and lamps from West Elm and furniture from Restoration Hardware.

Who says pink has to be just for girls…pick a hue like blush or Berry.  It will appeal to both Men and Women if you use it sparingly…the results are striking.  The images below are a few different projects we’ve completed over the years.

So the verdict is ….Use colour even Pinknand not just for Valentine’s Day but for every day.
